Nubbins.

**All products mentioned were bought by the author.**

Yep, had to cut/file my nails down to nubbins. They’ve been peeling and splitting so badly lately. I may have to go sans polish for a bit while I nurse my poor nails back to length. I have Orly’s Nailtrition that I’ve been using as a base coat, but I haven’t noticed any difference. Same thing with NailTek II, which is for sensitive and peeling nails. After some research and reading of some Nail Guru Bloggers’ Blogs, I realized that many will ONLY wear whatever nail treatment they use for the recommended/prescribed amount of time by the company. So, as of tomorrow, I will have some bare nails for about a week or two. So sad. It’s definitely a good thing, then, that I have a small cache of manicures saved for you all!

I used Zoya Song as my base color and Wet N’ Wild Storm (I think), except for the ring finger which is the opposite, and Sally Hansen Rapid Dry in Silver for the Unicorn. Unicorn and Balloon images are from the Winstonia Stamping Plates.  Swirls image from Cheeky Summer 2012 Stamping plates.

I really love the subtlety of the stamping and the polishes go so well together!!!

Finally, an actual Manicure!

It’s about time, right? Here’s my first mani to show you all. I used Cult Nails Charming as the base color and Konad Special Polish White for the stamping. Stamped with images from Cheeky Summer 2012 CH40 plate.

I Heart Nail Polish Right Hand

The picture seem a little wonky because I rotated the original picture so that the stamped images read right side up. Also these photos were taken a few days after I painted my nails, so that’s why there’s some tip wear.

Cult Nails is one of my all time favorite nail polish brands. It’s a small indie company, but by far one of the best brands out there! The formula on these polishes are amazing and the colors fantastically pigmented. With this manicure I used Cult Nails Charming, which is a sheer dusty purple. I used about 3 coats to get opacity.  I really love the “dustiness” to this color. I thought this mani was the perfect many to start off with! What better than a mani representing why I started this blog in the first place!

Oscar de la Renta on a nail blog?

Why yes!!

I’m not entirely sure when Oscar de la Renta started putting out nail polish.  I haven’t been able to find much about it in the short time I tried researching it.  However, that doesn’t really matter.  What really matters is the polish, right?  Right!  Here’s a peak of the new limited editions lacquers inspired by de la Renta’s Fall 2013 collection!

Oscar de la Renta Nail Lacquers in (from L to R) Covet, Dare, and Asphalt

Covet is described as “a decadent, rich mulberry that goes on with velvet-like perfection.”

Dare is described as “an island-inspired teal that captures Oscar’s love for adventurous color.”

Asphalt is described as “an edgy yet sophisticated charcoal gray with a hint of luminous shimmer.”

Here’s what the Oscar de la Renta website has to say about these new limited edition lacquers:

Inspired by Oscar de la Renta’s Fall 2013 collection, these new limited-edition shades were created exclusively for the runway and the designer’s devoted online clientele. This state-of-the-art formula goes on flawlessly and delivers a long-lasting, chip-resistant and high-shine manicure finish. All Oscar de la Renta nail lacquers are toluene-, formaldehyde-, and DBP-free.

So, how much do you love these lacquers? I know I’m dying to get my nails covered in these beauties!

Let’s Get This Blog Party Started!

With the encouragement of my friends, I have decided to start my very own nail blog! …or rather, a blog about nail polish and nail art! I started doing my nails after a friend’s wedding just about a year ago. Being one of 4 bridesmaids, we all decided to get our nail’s done. I got a classic French Tip. I loved how it looked so much that after the wedding was all over and done, I decided I was going to continue doing my nails and keep them looking nice! I started out with only one bottle of polish, a base coat, and a top coat. Before I knew, I would have more polish than what I knew what to do with!
Within the past year, I’ve learned not only how to do my own nails and nail care, I’ve learned all about nail art and how popular it was! I started following other nail art blogs and learned about all kinds of things having to do with nail art. After lots and lots of practice, I started to get pretty decent at doing my nails and nail art and was getting lots of compliments, I even got my own grandmother into nail art!
So, back to the blog, this is my way of sharing my passion for all things Nail polish and Nail Art with the rest of the world!
